Who’s getting excited for Soapstone Market to open!? Slated to open this month and located directly under Park Van Ness’ luxury apartments at 4465 Connecticut Avenue NW, we can already tell we’ll be frequenting the urban grocer and bar all the time. (Fun fact, the market got its name from its location overlooking the soapstone valley area of Rock Creek Park!)

Soapstone Market is from the same team behind Broad Branch Market in Chevy Chase. Similar to its sister store, Soapstone Market will feature gourmet deli items and a plethora of baked goods, but will include additional concepts such as a butcher, seafood counter, espresso and coffee bar, and a full-service wine and beer bar. Aside from prepared foods, the grocer will carry items like organic produce, craft beers and curated wine, and desirable sundries.

The 6,000 SF market will include indoor seating for 60 as well as a 40 seat sidewalk café where patrons can enjoy grab-n-go items or a made-to-order meal from its fast-casual concept.

The owners of Soapstone Market, Tracy Stannard and John Fielding, hope that the marketplace will create a vibrant atmosphere where community members can gather or swing by on their way home to pick up local and fresh fare.
